Why the winter number is lower: batteries lose range in the cold, and heating the cabin uses energy. We knock about 28% off the EPA figure for a January morning in the mountains. For this model we start higher than EPA: independent real-world tests show it beats its EPA rating by at least 12% at normal speeds (source), so our winter range and charging cost reflect that. That still leaves 204 miles — about 6 days of a 30-mile commute on one charge.
